Youth from Campania for Europe: the educational stays for the winners of the second edition are under way

The educational stays for the twelve winning schools of the second edition of the Campania Youth for Europe course/competition, organised by the Regional Department of Productive Activities, which this year was devoted to the themes of Rights, the Environment, the Mediterranean Diet and Agriculture, started on 21 July. The stays lasted five days for each group and took place in places chosen for their symbolic importance in relation to the issues addressed: the island of Ventotene, a place of isolation and deprivation of rights from which, over half a century ago, the idea of a united Europe was born; the marine reserve of Gaiola, an exceptional point of union between the environment and archaeology; the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni which, in addition to its environmental heritage, is home to the symbol of the Mediterranean diet, Pioppi.
The course/competition saw the participation, between March and April, of over 200 teachers from higher education institutions in Campania in training courses organised by the University of Sannio on the three themes chosen for the second edition. At the end of the training courses, the teachers worked with their pupils, also in interclass groups, on the production of multimedia products – in the form of commercials or videos – presented at an event at the Naples maritime station on 28 May. A special commission appointed by the Campania Region selected the twelve winning entries from among the 100 products submitted, divided by subject – Rights, Environment, Mediterranean Diet and Agriculture -, category – commercial/video – and class – two-year/three-year -.

The winning schools are: I.S.I. Alfonso Casanova and I.T.I. Augusto Righi of Naples, I.T.T. Basilio Focaccia and I.I.S. S. Caterina da Siena-Amendola of Salerno, I. I.S. Palmieri Rampone Polo of Benevento, the Liceo Statale Alfonso Gatto of Agropoli, the I.S.I.S. Ferraris-Buccini of Marcianise, the I.I.S. Adriano Tilgher of Ercolano,

the I.S.I. Ugo Foscolo of Teano, the Liceo Statale Enrico Medi of Battipaglia, the I.I.S. Carlo Levi of Portici, the I.S. Andrea Torrente of Casoria.

The stays will be held between July and September, involving about two hundred students with a rich programme of educational, cultural and study activities in the three selected locations.
