The idea is implemented to through the promotion of the Advanced Training Course in Management of Confiscated and Sequestered Companies (GASCOM). The course, which is one of the first on such a delicate and specific topic, pursues a multidisciplinary approach in which the links between different knowledge are explored, in order to recompose with frontal lessons and exercises, case studies and the realisation of a concrete project, the complexity of the management of the companies in question, the reconversion and relocation on the paths of the social economy. The main objective of the course is to train professionals working in the chain created to give new life to confiscated assets: from the prevention of assets and their confiscation, to their subsequent valorisation and social use. The challenge is difficult, but with the right tools it can be won: to demonstrate that businesses confiscated from organised crime can create work and wealth. In other words, it is a question of dispelling the myth that, with the arrival of the State, businesses die and people remain unemployed. Legality, efficiency and competitiveness must be the goal to guarantee a future for confiscated businesses. In five years, almost \u20ac32 billion have been taken from the mafia, while the total amount of assets that have been definitively confiscated is \u20ac11.7 billion, and the Campania Region has always been at the forefront in this field. This is an enormous heritage that must be managed in the best possible way to prevent it from being dissipated. The companies must be analysed to ensure that they can continue to live in conditions of regularity and legality, i.e. outside the Mafia business model, and must be managed by competent professionals in order to restore them to health and return them to the market once and for all. Criminal phenomena, and particularly organised crime, like all human things, change over time, adapting to the needs to be met from time to time. It is evident that over the years we have gone from a phenomenon characterised by an organisation that operated more on the territory in a meaningful way compared to what happens today, when the activity carried out also in the economic-financial sector is relevant, with subtle borderlines with politics and institutions, making full use of new technologies. The Advanced Training Course in the Management of Companies Seized and Confiscated from the Mafia (GASCOM) implemented by the Campania Region, Sviluppo Campania and the Department of Economics, Management and Institutions of the University of Naples Federico II has an ambitious objective: to train experts in the sector who are able to keep alive companies, businesses and activities that have grown up in the shadow of organised crime, making them available to civil society in order to overcome and defeat the so-called grey area made up of entrepreneurs, professionals, politicians, public officials and other figures that is also defined as the mafia bourgeoisie, made up of unsuspected characters who, although not part of the criminal structure, using specific professional skills benefit the mafia association.
